Battle for the Box Office (April 18)

Happy Good Friday, Hope everyone have a good Easter Break. These are the movies opening this Holy weekend.

1. Heaven is for real (April 16)

image

During emergency surgery, a young boy (Colton) slips from consciousness and almost dies. Afterwards he claims that he visited heaven. His family and the members of his small town do not believe him until his stories identify people who have passed away.  This is the perfect movie to see this weekend it opened on Wednesday and made over $3 million. It’s inspiring and uplifting, its based on a book inspired by true events. The trailer looks good and if I’m going to see a movies this weekend, I would definitely see this one.

2. Transcendence (April 18)

image

A science fiction thriller film about a computer scientist, Evelyn Caster, who uploads her husband Will’s brain into a computer after he has been assassinated by terrorists. Both Evelyn and Will work together to create a technological singularity for creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain. I watched all trailer but I’m torn with this movie, I don’t know if I like it or not. Its sound cool but it doesn’t feel original, it centers on computers rebelling on humanity and its been done before. It probably ends with the unplugging Will just joking. It stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall and Morgan Freeman. This movie can go either way but I don’t think it can take the number one spot away from Captain American.

3. A Haunted House 2 (April 18)

Marlon Wayans stars as a man plagued by paranormal events in the sequel spoof. This movie was suppose to be release earlier this year but they moved the date. The date should have moved to never. I just don’t get it, its the same plot with a bigger budget and hopefully better jokes. Mainly its just wrong timing for this movie. But we’ll see how well it does.

Sorry this post is so late.

Last week I was correct with Captain American holding on to the number one spot Transcendence seems like the movie to take that spot but I’m not sure, its going to.

Which movies are you planning to see this weekend? What do you think of Transcendence?

Trailer Frenzy

In the last couple week some trailers have been release and every putting in their ¢2 in and its my turn. But before… the new Captain America movie came out this week and I’m not a big marvels fan (never seen Avengers) but I want to watch it so bad. I’m going to watch the first Captain America and then go see the new one next weekend. I’m not going to do a review because I think there’s enough on the interwebs. OK I’m rambling now here are 5 trailers I’ve been dying to talk about.

1. Lucy (August 8)

You may or may not heard of this movie, this trailer was release April 4, that was 4 days ago and it has almost 8 million hits YouTube which is pretty cool. The movie centers on a woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts. It stars Scarlet Johansson as Lucy and Morgan Freeman this movie looks like its going to be badass. Its being compared to Limitless but apart from the “you use 10% of your brain premise” it stands on its own. You have to watch the trailer to see what I mean. This movie isn’t getting a lot of advertisements and its being release the same day as TMNT which is not good.

2. TMNT (August 8)

First of all, I love Michael Bay I don’t know why everyone keeps bashing him and his movies still makes millions and I know TMNT will be no exception. The trailer has been out for a week and most of what I’ve read have been negative. Why Meghan Fox is April? Why the turtles look like crap? Michael Bay (who just produced the movie) ruined my childhood once again. The turtles weren’t created. Where’s Splinter?
I get it Meghan Fox isn’t the best actress but give it a rest. The turtles, to me looks cool and realistic for CGI but they don’t look like teenagers. And the how they were not created BS I get I don’t why they changed something so big but we all have to wait until the movie to see how it plays out. The trailer is only 1 minute and 30 seconds there is only so much they can show without ruining  the movie.

3. Hercules (July 25)

Following The Legend of Hercules staring Kellan Lutz train wreck which came out earlier this year there is no way this film can disappoint with the expectations so low and by the looks of the trailer its not going to. I’m not the biggest fan of The Rock especially when I heard when he’s going to be Hercules but so far I like what I’m getting from the trailer. Most people don’t agree with The Rock ethnicity but I think that’s just pathetic.

4. Interstellar (November 7)

Although the teaser trailer have been out for 3 months and I’ve watched it a lot I still kind of don’t know what’s it about and I want to. From what I’ve read its about a group of astronaut/explorers that discover how to suppress the limitations on human space travel. Everyone is saying it going to the “Gravity” of 2014, its too early to say that but with Christopher Nolan directing and  Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain  staring its definitely won’t disappoint.

5. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

OK the trailer for Mockingjay isn’t out as yet. WHY!?!? I’m dying just to see a glimpse of the trailer. It probably premiere at ComiCon which is in June so we have to wait until then hopefully the teaser will be out before then.

OK there are many more trailers has been released which ones are you most excited for and the ones your dying to see??

Battle for the Box-Office (March 28)

I’m taking a break from reading The Maze Runner to write about Noah and Sabotage the movie coming out this weekend and which one I think is going to come out on top. Here goes:

1. Noah

image

We all know the story of Noah, God is saddened at the wickedness of mankind and sends a great flood to destroy all life on Earth, but instructs Noah, a man “righteous in his generation,” to build a wooden ark and save a remnant of life from the Flood. Noah builds the ark and saves his family and representatives of all animals from the massive flood waters which cover the Earth. Directed by Darren Aronofsky this $150 million blockbuster has manage to piss off leaders from the Jewish and Christian community. Some of the issue many have with the movies is it lack of the word God meaning it wasn’t mention in the movie at all, it was supposedly substitute for Creator. Noah got the vision from a dream of the flood rather than walking with God. In no way did I expect Noah to be remain 100% accurate just like every other biblical movie but they embellish a little too much. I said, in an earlier post that I will not let my religious view conflict with my judgement on Noah as a movie but that’s hard to do. With a $150 million budget you should expect a lot from this movie and if you go to see it keep in mind that no animals were use its all CGI so that’s pretty cool. I won’t be watch Noah but if you do and your a Christian I would like to hear your thoughts on it so please COMMENT.

2. Sabotage

Sabotage follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, I don’t know much about this film but the trailer looks cool. It seems like a typical drug movie through, you know how its going to end before it does but you watch it see the fight scenes and such. All and all it looks like a typical action movie nothing special. I would rather watch it over Noah but that’s me.

Winner for this weekend is going to be Noah without a doubt, it going to sweep Divergent to second. Sabotage will be down to fifth or sixth in my opinion.

What movie are you going to see this weekend and what do you think of Noah?
