Battle for the Box-Office (March 28)

I’m taking a break from reading The Maze Runner to write about Noah and Sabotage the movie coming out this weekend and which one I think is going to come out on top. Here goes:

1. Noah

image

We all know the story of Noah, God is saddened at the wickedness of mankind and sends a great flood to destroy all life on Earth, but instructs Noah, a man “righteous in his generation,” to build a wooden ark and save a remnant of life from the Flood. Noah builds the ark and saves his family and representatives of all animals from the massive flood waters which cover the Earth. Directed by Darren Aronofsky this $150 million blockbuster has manage to piss off leaders from the Jewish and Christian community. Some of the issue many have with the movies is it lack of the word God meaning it wasn’t mention in the movie at all, it was supposedly substitute for Creator. Noah got the vision from a dream of the flood rather than walking with God. In no way did I expect Noah to be remain 100% accurate just like every other biblical movie but they embellish a little too much. I said, in an earlier post that I will not let my religious view conflict with my judgement on Noah as a movie but that’s hard to do. With a $150 million budget you should expect a lot from this movie and if you go to see it keep in mind that no animals were use its all CGI so that’s pretty cool. I won’t be watch Noah but if you do and your a Christian I would like to hear your thoughts on it so please COMMENT.

2. Sabotage

Sabotage follows an elite DEA task force that deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, I don’t know much about this film but the trailer looks cool. It seems like a typical drug movie through, you know how its going to end before it does but you watch it see the fight scenes and such. All and all it looks like a typical action movie nothing special. I would rather watch it over Noah but that’s me.

Winner for this weekend is going to be Noah without a doubt, it going to sweep Divergent to second. Sabotage will be down to fifth or sixth in my opinion.

What movie are you going to see this weekend and what do you think of Noah?

Most Read Book to Movie Adaptions

I started this blog to write about movie adaptions but I haven’t really done that. I haven’t been reading a lot this year which sucks but I’m currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This is a list of books just five (5) that you should read before you watch the movie. (These are movie that haven’t been release as yet)

1. The Fault in Our Stars (June 6)

image

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
Why you should read the book:
If you don’t read any of the books on this list I advice you to read this one. Its written by John Green – who is now my favourite author – an amazing YA writer. This book will have you laughing and crying at the same time. You’ll fall in love in with the characters and want nothing but happiness for main character Hazel. This book inspired me and taught me the moral that we should never take our life for granted.
I mostly love this book because it portrays REAL life as we know it. It does not necessarily have a happy ending, the characters do not ride off into the sunset, there is no “happily ever after.” Although is there happy endings in real life? Unfortunately, no. It shows the true, yet awful, colors of life. Truthfully dying is a side effect of living. In other words we live to die. This book will break your heart not by breaking it down but by building it up until it burst.

2. Mockingjay (November 21)

image

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.
Why you should read this book:
First of all if you saw this first two movies, but haven’t read the books that’s fine, you still can read the last one. It will explain a lot that wasn’t explain in the movies and you will won’t have to wait to see what happens to Peeta. The Hunger Games trilogy is darker than how the movies made them out to be and Mockingjay by far is the darkest. Katniss have to make decision that will shape the rebellion and as for Peeta he’s not the same as he was in the first book/movie. Let’s just say he’s not so fond of Katniss anymore. I can’t write anything without spoilers and I’m not going to because I don’t want to ruin the book so that’s all I’m going to say. Just read the book its the best.

3. Gone Girl (October 3)

image

I have this book for couple months now but I haven’t read I couldn’t find the time to, but its definitely next on my read list. Its about a married couple Nick and Amy they have the perfect life, they live in the perfect neighbourhood, everything seems perfect in their life. But on their fifth anniversary Amy disappears, now husband of the year Nick is under pressure  by the police and the media for his lies, deceit and inappropriate behavior, but is he really a killer? With his twin sister Margo at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. But if Nick didn’t do it, where is his wife?
Its not a YA novel but I like it and I hate suspend and/or drama. It has a big twist that I can’t say but that’s why I want to read it to see what happens and I know what happened to Amy. I know what’s going to happen and I still want to read the book so that should say something. All and all its going to be a great movie and a greater book  and the movie has Ben Affleck who I love.

4. The Mazing Runner (September 18)

image

I’m currently reading The Maze Runner and I’m half way through the book and I only been reading for the past two days. The books has 375 pages and I can’t put it down, its the first in a series of YA novels. “The Maze Runner” follows Thomas who wake up in a place called the Glade that exists inside a giant maze, populated by a group of teenager boys. All the boys when they arrived in the Box, their memories has been systematically erased and the only thing they can remember is their names, but Thomas remembers more but he cant seem put his memories together. Every 30 days they receive a newbie, but a day after Thomas arrive, they got a another newbie and this time its a girl (the first and only girl) and she has a message that changed everything. The group has to deal with power issues as well as how to escape the maze and why they were sent there to begin with.

5. The Giver

image

The last book on the list is a book that I just heard about, the trailer premiered I think last week and it blow up my tl. So I Google the book, its a relatively old children’s book from 1993. From what I’ve read it about a boy named Jonas who lives in a utopian society and on his twelfth  birthday he has to chose a what he’s going to do for the rest of his life. He got chosen to be he Receiver of Memories and I stop reading because I didn’t want to ruin the book. So I know nothing about this book but I’m definitely going to read to see what the buzz is all about and if its that’s good. Its seems like this book that started the “dystopian society” craze so I’m really curious about it. I don’t really read books that are not from the 21 century but I’ll give this one a pass.

Noticeable Mentions
1. Divergent by Veronica Roth
2. Maleficent based an the Fairytale Sleeping Beauty.
3. Edge of Tomorrow
4. Serena by Ron Rash
5. Fallen by Lauren Kate
6. Noah & Exodus inspired by the Bible
7. The Hobbit

Great Movies Greater books what do you think of the list should I read the Giver? Do you have any recommendations for me to read? Which one are you most excited about and which ones have your read?

2014 year of Religious movies?

It’s been 10 years since the one of the scrutinized film in history has been release, The Passion of Christ. Since then there haven’t been much religious (christian) until now. These are five (5) film destine to push the religious border.

1. Son of God.

image

This is the first film portraying Jesus since The Passion of Christ and it has big shoes to fill. Although The Passion of Christ focus on the last 12 hours of Jesus’s life and Son of God focuses on Jesus’s life spam from his birth, his teachings, miracles, crucifixion and ultimately his resurrection. Son of God is a recut of the miniseries The Bible, which set records in view for The History Channel. Some scene from the series where removed such as The Temptation with the devil which cause bit of a controversy for the show, some said that devil resembles Barack Obama and the ninja angels. There are a lot of things wrong with this movie but that doesn’t mean it was bad interpretation of the bible and Jesus’s life. It was a great depiction of what happen in the bible. Christian should watch this to see the events that shaped their faith and Non-Christians should watch it as well to understand what Christianity is about.

2. Noah

image

God is saddened at the wickedness of mankind and sends a great flood to destroy all life on Earth, but instructs Noah, a man “righteous in his generation,” to build a wooden ark and save a remnant of life from the Flood. Noah builds the ark and saves his family and representatives of all animals from the massive flood waters which cover the Earth. It opens 28 of March and I was really excited when I saw the trailer about four (4) months ago, but after watching the trailer a couple times something stuck out that really bothers me. Noah closing the ark, in the Bible The Lord closes the ark. That bothers me and also you see someone (I don’t what biblical character that was) coming with an army to take the ark while in the bible when Noah was telling everyone of the flood they mocked him.
I am a Christian if you hadn’t notice and I will not make my thought on the world and mostly my religious view conflict my judgement of the film, AS A FILM.
With that said the movie looks epic the CG and SFX looks neat and I know I’m still going to see it opening weekend.
(This is not a review!)

3. Exodus

image

image

With a release date set for December 12, 2014 Exodus gives an account of Moses’ hand in leading the Israelites slaves out of Egypt. Not much as been release about the plot of this movie. It stars Christian Bale as Moses and directed by Ridley Scott. Scott is know for movies such as Prometheus, The Gladiator, Alien just to name a few so I think this is going to be good, and I really looking forward to see it.

The next two aren’t biblically base but has a lot to do with religion, faith, and Christianity.

4. God’s Not Dead.

image

Released on March 21, 2014 is about a ollege student Josh Wheaton’s faith is challenged by his philosophy professor, who believes God does not exist. This professor forced his class to write down, “God’s Dead” for 30% of their grade. There is so many things wrong with this film. The movie made all the “good guys” Christian and all the “bad guys” miserable atheist, which is why the world hates Christians. I love to hate this movie and hate to love it. We live in a world were if you proclaimed that your a Christian, you hate gays etc and your chastise by the world example Phil Robertson from Duck Dynasty, whose show was temporally cancelled because of his faith but if you say your an atheist nothing happens that’s a double standard. That’s all I’m going to say about that.

PS. God’s not Dead took in a surprising  $2.8 million in one day and looks to sneak into this weekend’s top five.

5. Heaven is  for Real

image

To end my list the amazing Heaven is for real tells the story of a small-town father who must find the courage and conviction to share his son’s extraordinary, life-changing experience with the world. His son visits heaven after recovering from an emergency operation that where he temporally died. Did I mention it was based on a true story. I’m not going to get religious on this movie and just going to say it looks like a really inspirationally and uplifting movie and I’m marking my calendar for April 16 to go see it.

Thats the end of my list. All these movies are targeted for Christians and non Christians alike and I have a feeling its the start to something epic and controversial. What do you think, is Hollywood making the right decision by making some of the greatest stories ever told into movies?

Battle for the Box-Office

The battle for the box office this weekend is between Divergent and Muppet’s Most Wanted and its obvious who is gonna come out on top.

image

I’m not a big muppets fan but this movie looks funny and entertaining plus I love Tina Fey. The entire Muppets gang on a global tour, but mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. With countless cameos such as Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Salma Hayek, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Zach Galifianakas, Usher just to name a few this movie is sure to break the bank.

image

An adventure set in a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, Tris Prior is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
I just don’t get it. I’ve read the book and it was just one long boring book. There were no peaks, the book lead no where I think it was a suspense but I’m not eager to see what happens next.
The five factions basically honesty, danger, intelligence, peace and selflessness and Tris chose Dauntless the faction about danger to hide that she is Divergent not the smartest choice. Plus no one is just dangerous, intelligent, peaceful, selfless and honest, so to me everyone is divergent.
Many people are saying that it’s similar to The Hunger Games , Divergent is based in the future after a war that destroyed everything. A system was created by dividing society in to district no I mean factions to control the people and if you don’t fit in or comply with this system your at risk. OK well its is kind of like Hunger Games.
A lot of people is super pumped up for this movie but I’m just not one of them. With pre-ordered ticket sales I see that this movie is gonna make millions. Hopefully they change up the movie ALOT and make it a bit more interesting.

The winner this week: Divergent, with The Muppets Most Wanted close behind followed by Mr.Peabody & Sherman and 300:Rise of an Empire and Need for Speed rounding off the top 5.

Comment what movie your eager to see this weekend and what movie that came out already that you want to see again. Comment Comment Comment

Pretty Little Liars I know who A is.

wpid-storagesdcard0DownloadThe_four_PLLs.jpg.jpgA lot of people think Pretty Little Liars is too confusing but you just too stupid to follow the story. To the millions who watch it the season finale aired last night and I thought they were going to unmask A or whoever is working for/with A, but they didn’t. But I think I figured it out. Why would a mother bury their own child? To protect another child right? If Mrs. D didn’t, Jason would be in jail for murdering Alison and she wouldn’t have had lost both kids. Jason is A. “Don’t ever turn your back on a Hasting?” Jason is a Hasting and just like everyone else he had a reason to hate Alison.  Alison use to go in his room and take his belongings, and Jason was jealous of her as well. Because he did drugs and got into trouble, his parents thought they “lost the wrong child” meaning Jason was the who was suppose to die, this is why he was jealous of Alison. In season 2 he told Spencer he is worst than Alison. But he was wasted the night Alison supposedly died but who knows he was probably faking and he said he saw CeCe wearing the same clothes as Alison the night she went missing and I don’t think that’s the whole story. Or he was the one who tried to kill Alison but he’s not A who else would Mrs. D tried to protect. Well that’s my theory we just have to wait until the new season to see what happens.

The season finale left us with a lot of unanswered questions (you come to expect that from pll after a while):

1. Still who is freaking A??!
2. Is Ezra died? PS i think Ezra is died because he said he knows who A is and he cant live to just tell the girls.
3. How the hell did Noel know Alison alive and what’s the secret she has on him?
4. What did Melisa tell Mr. Hastings in the police station?
5. Who is trying to bury Mrs. D and is she died for real?
6. Who is in Alison’s grave?
Just some of the questions need to be answered.

Mona knew Alison was alive all that time. WTF!!!

What was your favorite part from the season finale and do you agree with my theory about who is A and who do you think is A? Do you think Jason is too obvious and the producers are just throwing us off? comment comment comment
