Box Office Breakdown (August 22)

This weekend  will be filled with tears or excitement, depending on what movie your planning on seeing. If you don’t know which movie to see, hopefully this will make it a lot easier. Here are the movies being release this weekend:

1. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” featured in the film Frank Miller’s Sin City and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face. Based on the graphic by Frank Miller who wrote and co-directed with Robert Rodriguez A dame to Kill For stars Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson, Bruce Willis and Eva Green.

If you’re looking for violent, bloody, exciting movie to see this weekend this is exactly that, I would advice to watch the first Sin City film first. They are a lot of die-hard fans of the novel who been dying for a sequel. Does it have what it takes to take the number 1 spot away from TMNT we’ll see.

2. If I Stay

Life changes in an instant for young Mia Hall after a car accident, killing her family puts her in a coma. During an out-of-body experience, she have to decide if she should go with her family or stay and live a life more difficult than she should ever imagine. If I Stay follow the trend of popular YA novels that being adapted in to movies. Check out my thought on the book at A penny for my thoughts (If I Stay). Directed by R.J Cutler and screenplay with the author of the book Gayle Forman and Shauna Cross, who also wrote the screenplay for What to expect when you expecting and Whip It. If I Stay stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Jamie Blackley and Mireille Enos.

If I Stay is a really emotion story, it has something that all young adult can relate to. It has heart, family love. If your planning on seeing this film make sure bring a box of tissues. Does it have what it takes to go up against TMNT and The Guardians, yes it does and it wouldn’t be a surprise if If I Stay comes out on top this weekend?

There it is, the top two movies coming out this weekend, will they be enough to trump TMNT and The Guardians out of the top two? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meanwhile comment below the  what movie you’re going to see and which ones you think is going to take the top spots.

  1. I really want to see both of these movies. Sin City because I just want to watch the blood and crazy stuff that will happen in it. Plus, the story.

If I Stay, I want to see it because of the story. It looks very interesting and I’m very tempted to go and buy the book before I go see it. It looks like a really good film to see with my fiancee.
