U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world.

Adapted from the book by the same name, American Sniper stars Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Luke Grimes, Jake McDorman and diected by Clint Eastwood.  Eastwood (who turns 84 this year) still can compete with any young, new director out today, he did an great job on American Sniper, the actual war scenes were fantastic and are the highlight of the movie.  It showed the real struggles of American soldiers goes through before, during and after a tour. Before, the training, during making that first kill which is inevitable and after trying to coop with what have been seen, friends lost and return back home as a total different person everyone knew. Chris Kyle’s story is one to be remember for years to come, he went through a lot for freedom and to protect and in the end, there was no one to free him or protect him.

This movie may slip through Oscar ballot of nomination and if that happens it would be very unfortunately because Bradley Cooper gave an award-worthy performance better than American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook. Definitely  his best performance to date. Sienna Miller, Luke Gimes and Jake McDorman all gave great performances but Bradley Cooper truly made the film, he turned into Chris Kyle. You see Kyle’s struggle and pain shone through Bradley Cooper, he wasn’t acting, Cooper was Kyle. The Academy probably wont give him the nomination because it’s a hard year for lead actors, everyone bought there A game.

American Sniper was a great with a great director and an even greater performance from Bradley Cooper.

Have you seen American Sniper, what did you think of Bradley Cooper’s performance and the movie on a whole?

  1. I completely agree about Cooper, i thought he was excellent. But it looks like he will miss out like you said, if Channing Tatum looks like he can’t get one for Foxcatcher, you know its been a good year. Also dissapointed to see no buzz for Sienna Miller who I thought was the most emotionally touching part of the whole film!

I haven’t yet seen Nightcrawler, but from what I’ve read and seen in the trailer Jake Gyllenhaal completely transform himself for the film, Jake Gylllenhaal is in my opinion one of the most underrated actorsl, he simply just dont get the recognition he deserves.
Don’t forget Steve Carrel in Foxcatcher.
As I said this year is a hard year for lead actors.
