Fall into Winter 2014

Hello to the few people who still read my blog, thank you for reading. So I’ve been MIA for 2 months now, which is something a new blogger should not do. I’m sorry but I’m back (until my semester starts) and I have a lot I want to blog about.

Here goes,

Fall is my favorite time of the year which is pretty ironic because the two places I’ve lived all my life only have one season which is summer. Nevertheless, I love the idea of fall, pumpkin pie, sweatshirts, cooler weather, leaves changing colors and most of all the best movies are release during the fall.  The movies on this list are some of the year’s most anticipating movies, some you may not know -as yet- and others you can’t stop thinking about and is dying to see.

1. Gone Girl (October 3) With his wife disappearance on their fifth anniversary Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) becomes the focus of an intense media eye. As the police investigates further into his wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike) disappearance, the media turns on him when it’s suspected that he may not be innocent. We all know the book written by Gillian Flynn by the same name and most of us read it and hate that we love it. Gillian Flynn screen-write the movie along with David Fincher whose directing. With an alternative ending book-readers and movie-goers are going to love this movie. I can definitely see this in the running for best picture and actor at 2015 Oscars.

2. Interstellar (November 5)         Interstellar is definitely the years most anticipated movie, it’s the first movie Matthew McConaughey stars in, coming off his big Oscar win for Dallas Buyers Club earlier this year. Along with McConaughey, the movie stars a mass of other Oscar winners such as: Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastian, Michael Caine just to name a few. Interstellar is about a space travel story about a group of astronaut trying to find an inhabitable planet to replace Earth because Earth is on the brink of extinction. The movies written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and directed by Christopher Nolan who we all know from the Dark Knight trilogy and Inception. Nolan has yet to win a Oscar he’s been snob too many times and this might be his lucky year.

3. Exodus God & Kings (December 12)   Following the trend of religious movie comes Exodus which is the name of the second book in the bible and it gives an account of Moses leading the Israelite slaves to freedom from Egypt. Christian Bale plays Moses, a role that is a long way from the Dark Knight, Joel Edgeton plays the pharaoh Rhamses, Aaron Paul as Joshua and Sigourney Weaver as Tyua. Director and Co-Writer Ridley Scott who is well know for movies like Prometheus and Gladiator, uses a state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion to bring this story to life.

4. Fury (October 17)

Fury follows a five men American tank crew in Europe on the final days of World War 2. Fury stars a mass of hunks such as, Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena just to name a few. It was written and directed by David Ayer who is know for Sabotage and End of Watch. The release was initially set for November 14 but was moved up to October 17. By the trailer Fury looks like the Saving Private Ryan of the 21st century which are pretty big shoes to fill but that’s how promising it seems for now.

5. FoxCathcher (November 14)

FoxCatcher is based on the true story of Mark Schultz, an Olympic wrestler whose relationship with sponsor John du Pont and brother Dave Schultz would lead to unlikely circumstances. It stars Channing Tatum as Mark Schultz, Mark Ruffalo as Dave Schultz and Steve Carell as John du Pont.  This movie isn’t a blockbuster and it probably wont make a big profit but it’s going one of the years most critically acclaimed movie. Steve Carell is one of Hollywood’s most diverse and underestimate actor.  Do I hear Oscar bells for Best and Supporting actor, too early to tell.

Noticeable Mentions

1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

2. Dumb & Dumber To

3. Inherent Vice

4. The Hobbit

These movies will definitely  make fall 100% better.  Which movie are you looking for too this fall?

Movie Update

Power Rangers remake!!!!

image

Its been a while since I posted about movie, sorry I’ve been reading a lot. But I heard there is going to be a Power Rangers remake. I didn’t read much into it but I think Michael Bay is directing so lets take a second for all the haters to voice there unwanted opinion…….

I literally was thinking there should do a remake of Power Rangers a couple weeks ago, the franchise is in need of a reboot. I know everyone is going to say-again-that Michael Bay is ruining there childhood, by destroying these awesome shows that we grew up with, but he’s not. I’m not going to lie the last Transformers movie that came out sucked, and I cant wait to see the new TMNT movie.
Have you ever thought that these re-make/re-boot movie isn’t for us but for the younger generation who don’t know about Transformers, TMNT, Power Rangers etc?

Another movie I want to talk about is Gone Girl. I already read the book so I know how it ended but not a lot of people was happy with the way it did end so the movie is going to have a alternative ending. I thought the movie was going to be a bit “Lifetimey” but the trailer proved me wrong. The Trailer is fantastic, and just so you know, Nick didn’t kill his wife isn’t that obvious, Come on people think a little. I cant wait to see this movie, for those who haven’t read the book, its going to take you on a crazy rollercoaster and its going to the same for those who have read the book.

I saw that there is going to be a Justice League movie, finally move over Avengers. I’m so sick of Marvel like every month a new marvel superhero movie comes out. Although I’m pumped up for X-Men Days of Future Past. Also a David and Goliath movie is in the works.

The last thing I want to say is where is my Mockingjay trailer??? I’m freaking out not being able to see a teaser trailer, and I have a question where does Mockingjay part 1 ends?

It feels like I’ve missed so much in the movie world these pass couple weeks. Which movie updates are you most excited about.?

The Day of……(Gone Girl)

image

Its 4am as I write this post and my head is spinning because I just finish reading Gone Girl. Its was an amazing book I don’t know why it took me so long to finally read it.

Nick and Amy are married but on their fifth anniversary, Amy went missing. ALL the evidence points to Nick who swears he didn’t do anything to Amy and if that’s true; Where is Amy?
With surprising and devious plot exquisitely put together by exceedingly talented writer, Gillian Flynn.

image

Flynn writing style is incredible, the choice of words, tone everything fell together marvelously making the book an easy read. Reading this book in first person narrative meant being in the thoughts of two very sick people. The first half of the book you had no other choice but to suspect Nick killed Amy. With the dairy entries and Nick’s lack of concern toward his missing wife. Then comes part two, and we discover that Amy is a deranged sociopath, who planned for over a year to frame her husband for murder.

Poor Nick. Amy pushed Nick into infidelity, she pushed Nick away. The lost of his job, his mom illness all took a toll on him. But she decided its time for the real Amy to come out. Nick isn’t perfect, he just want people to think of him as the good guy with in most cases he is. That’s why I loved him. And after all what Amy put him through he still stayed with her. I think the baby was an excuse to stay. He really did love Amy and he knew he was nothing with her in his life.

Am I the only one who thinks Amy has a personality disorder? She made herself into the ‘cool girl’ the girl every guys likes so Nick would fall for her but them when she decide to be the real Amy. She acts a certain way so people would love her and thinks she’s perfect but when they saw her flaws, she wants to kill them. She basically wanted everyone to thinks she’s perfect and no one is perfect.

The suspend is what kept me reading, and I was a bit disappointed with the ending. I was waiting for a volcano to erupt and all I got was a mere bonfire.  Maybe because there is no hope for these characters, no redemption, no justice for those murdered.

By now we all know that Gone Girl is adapted into a movie and Nick is played by no other than Ben Affleck. The trailer is out now, and I read that’s there is a alternate ending. So I can’t wait to see.

What are your thoughts on Gone Girl?

Most Read Book to Movie Adaptions

I started this blog to write about movie adaptions but I haven’t really done that. I haven’t been reading a lot this year which sucks but I’m currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This is a list of books just five (5) that you should read before you watch the movie. (These are movie that haven’t been release as yet)

1. The Fault in Our Stars (June 6)

image

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.
Why you should read the book:
If you don’t read any of the books on this list I advice you to read this one. Its written by John Green – who is now my favourite author – an amazing YA writer. This book will have you laughing and crying at the same time. You’ll fall in love in with the characters and want nothing but happiness for main character Hazel. This book inspired me and taught me the moral that we should never take our life for granted.
I mostly love this book because it portrays REAL life as we know it. It does not necessarily have a happy ending, the characters do not ride off into the sunset, there is no “happily ever after.” Although is there happy endings in real life? Unfortunately, no. It shows the true, yet awful, colors of life. Truthfully dying is a side effect of living. In other words we live to die. This book will break your heart not by breaking it down but by building it up until it burst.

2. Mockingjay (November 21)

image

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12.
Why you should read this book:
First of all if you saw this first two movies, but haven’t read the books that’s fine, you still can read the last one. It will explain a lot that wasn’t explain in the movies and you will won’t have to wait to see what happens to Peeta. The Hunger Games trilogy is darker than how the movies made them out to be and Mockingjay by far is the darkest. Katniss have to make decision that will shape the rebellion and as for Peeta he’s not the same as he was in the first book/movie. Let’s just say he’s not so fond of Katniss anymore. I can’t write anything without spoilers and I’m not going to because I don’t want to ruin the book so that’s all I’m going to say. Just read the book its the best.

3. Gone Girl (October 3)

image

I have this book for couple months now but I haven’t read I couldn’t find the time to, but its definitely next on my read list. Its about a married couple Nick and Amy they have the perfect life, they live in the perfect neighbourhood, everything seems perfect in their life. But on their fifth anniversary Amy disappears, now husband of the year Nick is under pressure  by the police and the media for his lies, deceit and inappropriate behavior, but is he really a killer? With his twin sister Margo at his side, Nick stands by his innocence. But if Nick didn’t do it, where is his wife?
Its not a YA novel but I like it and I hate suspend and/or drama. It has a big twist that I can’t say but that’s why I want to read it to see what happens and I know what happened to Amy. I know what’s going to happen and I still want to read the book so that should say something. All and all its going to be a great movie and a greater book  and the movie has Ben Affleck who I love.

4. The Mazing Runner (September 18)

image

I’m currently reading The Maze Runner and I’m half way through the book and I only been reading for the past two days. The books has 375 pages and I can’t put it down, its the first in a series of YA novels. “The Maze Runner” follows Thomas who wake up in a place called the Glade that exists inside a giant maze, populated by a group of teenager boys. All the boys when they arrived in the Box, their memories has been systematically erased and the only thing they can remember is their names, but Thomas remembers more but he cant seem put his memories together. Every 30 days they receive a newbie, but a day after Thomas arrive, they got a another newbie and this time its a girl (the first and only girl) and she has a message that changed everything. The group has to deal with power issues as well as how to escape the maze and why they were sent there to begin with.

5. The Giver

image

The last book on the list is a book that I just heard about, the trailer premiered I think last week and it blow up my tl. So I Google the book, its a relatively old children’s book from 1993. From what I’ve read it about a boy named Jonas who lives in a utopian society and on his twelfth  birthday he has to chose a what he’s going to do for the rest of his life. He got chosen to be he Receiver of Memories and I stop reading because I didn’t want to ruin the book. So I know nothing about this book but I’m definitely going to read to see what the buzz is all about and if its that’s good. Its seems like this book that started the “dystopian society” craze so I’m really curious about it. I don’t really read books that are not from the 21 century but I’ll give this one a pass.

Noticeable Mentions
1. Divergent by Veronica Roth
2. Maleficent based an the Fairytale Sleeping Beauty.
3. Edge of Tomorrow
4. Serena by Ron Rash
5. Fallen by Lauren Kate
6. Noah & Exodus inspired by the Bible
7. The Hobbit

Great Movies Greater books what do you think of the list should I read the Giver? Do you have any recommendations for me to read? Which one are you most excited about and which ones have your read?
